The Go F— Yourself Workshop (Loving Yourself With Your Energy)
This workshop will support you to claim the joy, sanctity, and safety of your sexual energy by acknowledging that it begins inside you. Sexual energy is life force, a fundamental basis for our existence, and a tremendously powerful motivator for behavior. Sexuality often arises as a longing for something and someone outside of ourselves through the polarities of masculine and feminine energy. Whatever your sex, gender, or sexual preferences, you have both masculine and feminine energies within you. In this workshop we will practice engaging with these forces internally so that they do not run your life unconsciously through shame, repression, loneliness, or addiction.
This workshop explores making love with ourselves energetically. We will use imagery, movement, breath, and sound to enjoy and satisfy aspects of our own longing. Let’s be clear: We will not be removing clothes or rubbing our genitals in this workshop. Rather, we will be creating and holding polarity within ourselves and directing it into creative expression. Energy follows intention and awareness; in this container we will call in an internally erotic state that is neither needy nor imposing in relationship to others. We do this not to dissolve our longings or avoid interaction with others, but rather to show up to others and the outer world more energetically whole and complete, our hearts overflowing with joy. By doing this together we gain the power to dissolve and rewire communal shame that may prevent us from feeling this kind of joy on a regular basis.
Does it seem preposterous that we could arrive to such a state in a single workshop? Perhaps. My own experience is that this kind of inner alchemy begins with the very idea that it is possible, and then develops steadily through practice. Your experience may be orgasmic, and it may also redefine what ‘orgasmic’ means for you. I have seen my own definitions of erotic energy shift dramatically (and experientially) through tantric study. I’m sharing this work because these experiences are true for me, and also because the discomfort of my own longing calls me to practice. I am so grateful for these tools, and they have been given to me to share.
This workshop will take place in Boise on Saturday May 20th from 12:00pm-4:00pm at SomaWorks. It may be taken by itself and is also intended to be taken with The Get Out of Your Head Workshop 6-9:30pm the previous evening. You will need to register independently for each.
